Those of you who have been following along know that I’m not really a fan of the way that Slack functions as an ever-present work newsfeed. One of the biggest drawbacks in my opinion is the lack of a subject line. A subject line is like a little knock on the door with a “Yoohoo, it’s your neighbor Marty.” An indicator of the message that is to come. Slacks just fall in your inbox. There’s no pretending not to be home. There’s no mentally steeling yourself for Marty’s request. It’s dumped on your lap.
